LG G3 specs leaked details

It looks like LG’s next-generation flagship phone for 2014 might have something a bit more impressive to tout than buttons on the back of the device. According to a report from ZDNet Korea, LG may have leaked the specs of its next generation flagship phone, the LG G3.
The LG G3 probably won’t be released for at least 8 months, but it’s never to early to speculate what the hardware will be. According to “unidentified industry sources,” the LG G3 will sport a 16MP rear camera and a Quad HD screen that boasts of a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 IPS LCD display.
The G3 apparently runs on LG's octa-core processor that is christened LG Odin. If LG's agreement with ARM to license its Cortex-A50 series processors is anything to go by, the G3 may well boast of some new-age functionality, complete with a 64-bit architecture in place.
We presume the octa-core will be LG’s own processor codenamed “Odin.” The big question is if this processor will be widely available for all regions or be similar to Samsung’s situation, in which most of the world doesn’t get the Exynos octa-core?

Best Android smartphones 2013

There was a ton of competition this past year. Many companies went with new device strategies, such as HTC sticking with the “One” line as their go-to bread and butter, and LG deciding to drop the Optimus moniker and focus on the “G” aspect of it. Then there’s Samsung, of course, who kept their train rolling with the steam generated by the hot-selling Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

The year came to a close with many formidable  options, including the LG-made Nexus 5 and the CyanogenMod-ready Oppo N1. Motorola and Sony’s efforts aren’t to be overshadowed with the likes of the Motorola Moto X and the Sony Xperia Z1.

So who is going to snag the honor of best phone of 2013? Well, we can’t say just yet… because it’ll be you deciding who gets to take that crown. This is a special readers’ choice edition, where you guys will get to make your voice heard and decide  which phone was good enough to be considered the very best that came out in 2013.
What's the best Android phone of 2013?

5 best icon packs for android

Banx is an inspired icon pack including 800 custom made squarish minimal HD icons mainly designed for XHDPI devices (supports other devices too but resolution varies). It also includes 12 matching wallpapers and dashboard app.

2- Mango Icon pack :

Mango is another icon pack featuring >300 rounded icons with Full HD (xxhdpi ) support. It also includes Icon mask which means even the non-themed icons will retain the style. ( I refer to this term several times while describing these icon packs )

3- Axis Icon pack :

Axis theme for Go/Apex/Nova and other launchers includes beautiful mix of 900+ minimal, flat and vintage styled HD icons supporting all resolutions, 6 matching HD wallpapers along with a theme dashboard.

5 of the best Android launchers

1-Themer :

One more app that’s still in beta mode, Themer is another home screen launcher that takes the largely
premade theme route, rather than allowing you to spend endless amounts of time creating your own custom   widgets.
As with all the others, once downloaded, Themer appears any time you’d normally see your home screen
so when you unlock phone or hit the home button.

2-Aviate :

Aviate is one of the newer Android launchers on the scene  - in fact, it’s so new it’s still
in invite-only beta mode .
Rather than focusing on providing tools for creating icons, shortcuts and widgets in a
whole range of wacky shapes and colors, Aviate takes a smart, mature approach to the
custom Android home screen, with the key idea behind it being that it will provide
contextually relevant information, no matter what you’re doing.

3-Nova Launcher :

Nova Launcher is a bit more straightforward than some of the others here – providing       you with  a slightly tweaked version of a normal home screen – and tools to further fine-   tune it to your liking.
On first install it will ask you if you want to import a home screen from another custom launcher, or the stock Android setup.

4-Dodol Launcher :

The Dodol Android launcher is one of the simplest in this list, and it’s for that reason that it made the cut
Once installed, and much like some of the others, new themes can be easily applied that will quickly change the look of your home screen in just a few clicks. If you don’t like the default one shown below, there are plenty more that can be accessed and downloaded via the Dodol Theme store, they seem to be mostly free too.

5-Go Launcher Ex :

Android app launchers, also known as home screen replacements, are extremely popular.

Apps like Go Launcher EX can transform the way your handset looks and improve features and functionality. Choose from a large selection of themes, organize your apps into folders, resize widgets to any custom size, and hide private apps.

Dead Trigger 2 Holiday Update

Madfinger's Dead Trigger 2 has remained near the top of the game charts on Android since its release a couple of months ago, and the developers continue to update it regularly. The last update focused on balance issues, but this one adds the most content yet, most notably the new China environment. This addition includes new Story and Warfare missions and extra challenges, plus Google Play Games achievements.

You also get several handfuls of melee weapons for when you inevitably run out of ammo and/or chickens. The Big Hammer and Butterfly Swords seem like they'll be the most fun, but Danny Trejo fans can also cause a little carnage with the Machete. Madfinger says that there are now 30 different weapons and 150 gameplays in Dead Trigger 2. If you play throughout the holidays you might notice some limited-edition Christmas presents, though the developers are keeping mum on their contents for the moment.

The original Dead Trigger is also receiving an update, primarily to add support for more high-resolution phones and tablets. It also updates the game to remove a bug in the equip menu and refreshes support for Facebook, Twitter, TapJoy and Chartboost. Rest easy, holiday travelers - you'll have plenty of reason to ignore your friends and family this yuletide.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Coming To Android In December

Do you have an affinity for the early 90s? Rockstar Games is preparing to take you back in time with GTA: San Andreas, which is coming to Android in December. This isn't just a straight port, though. Rockstar is doing some work to make the experience of playing San Andreas (which is a massive game) better on a mobile device.

GTA: San Andreas was by far the biggest GTA game of the PS2 era, so the developers have reworked the checkpoints to make it easier to advance. The graphics have also gotten a boost with improved textures, draw distances, and shadows. The game will fully support controllers with little to no fooling around in menus.
Rockstar didn't give an exact date, but it should only be a few weeks. However, the title will only be available on "select" Android devices, including some versions of the Kindle Fire. Most of Rockstar's games start out with support for a few phones and tablets before expanding a few weeks after release. Hopefully your device is deemed worthy.

How To Try The Google Experience Launcher With Google Now And Translucent Bars

Now that the KitKat update has started rolling out to various Nexus devices, we're, unfortunately, seeing no traces of the Google Experience Launcher, which confirms an earlier report stating as much. No GEL means no transparency in the default and a pretty barebones boring AOSP launcher. It also means no Google Now integration and no "Ok Google" hotword support while on any home screen.

However, not all is lost. There are several ways to obtain the coveted transparency in the status and navigation bars, and even a way to get GEL and Google Now. The latter doesn't work 100% - there are very minor quirks, but it should satisfy those of you craving Google Experience for the time being.
Since the stock launcher does not seem to come with the transparency flag ticked (seriously, Google?), the solution is to install a secondary launcher.
Note: The Nexus 10 may very well not support transparency at all, as it may have been disabled for performance reasons. We'll see when we get our hands on the OTA.

NOVA LAUNCHER

The latest Nova Launcher beta is a great way to go and looks like this:

As you can see, it enables transparency once you tick the appropriate box in the launcher settings and generally matches the KitKat theme pretty well. My favorite differentiating feature (there are many) is a freely scrollable app drawer as opposed to the horrid pagination in Google's own launchers. It's not as bad on tablets, since each screen fits a lot of apps, but on phones I find pagination unbearable.
There is only one problem with Nova, and that is the lack of Google Now home screen integration. If you're into that sort of thing that is - personally, I'm going to stick with Nova.

GOOGLE EXPERIENCE LAUNCHER

Since Google decided the new launcher is going to be exclusive to the Nexus 5 for now, we're going to have to rip it out of there and install manually. The good news is all of the Google Experience Launcher code is already inside Search 3.0, which ships with the KitKat OTA.
The only thing we need to install is a little APK called GoogleHome, a.k.a. Launcher, a.k.a. com.google.android.launcher. This APK weighs 12MB, but don't let that fool you - 99% of the space is occupied by KitKat wallpapers, and only a minimal amount of code is present to enable the entry point into the new launcher.
Before we go on, I have to warn you - while the launcher does work quite well, it's not without flaws. After all, we've ripped it out of a phone and are trying to stick it onto a tablet.
The biggest problem is every time you press Home while in another app, the keyboard pops up for no apparent reason. Pressing Back gets rid of it, but it happens again, which gets annoying rather quickly.
Other very minor niggles are:
  • the Search box is not centered
  • the app drawer icon does not look like the KitKat one on the Nexus 5, probably because the appropriate resource is missing

Download the APK, install it, then tap Home or go to Settings -> Home for easy launcher management. You will see a new option called Launcher with the blue icon.
File name: com.google.android.launcher-0.9.6.886092.apk.
Version: 0.9.6.886092.

Get The Android 4.4 “Kit Kat” Look

Ever since we saw the massive leak of Android 4.4 “Kit Kat” which showed new UI elements, we have been awaiting the arrival of mock-ups of the icons and wallpaper from themers. This weekend, a couple of wallpapers and icon sets have emerged, helping us all take a step closer to the next version of Android a little ahead of Google’s schedule.
Thanks to ALESSIO94x from XDA, we have an all-in-one kit with included wallpaper and four icons (app drawer, phone, Google, and Google Settings) that should get you up and running in no time.  His wallpaper, at least to me, best resembles the one seen in the leak, since it has a red bar running across the top. You’ll find that kit pictured below in the first two screenshots. [Download]
If you want something that’s a variation of the wallpaper we saw, then you’ll want to take a look at the wallpaper in the screenshot on the far right, which was created by Kuci_06 over at reddit. The wallpaper is similar to what we saw in the leak, but doesn’t quite have that solid red bar across the top. I do like the shadowing and vibrant style of it, though. [Download]
And last, I went with an icon pack called Éternel instead of the mock-up icons because they seemed to fit nicely with the wallpaper.  The clock I’m using is a simple UCCW skin I created. You can grab the .uzip here.
For those new to the icons game, you’ll need a 3rd party launcher like Nova or Apex in order to apply custom icons.

Here is another version of the Nexus 5 wallpaper. [Download] (Cheers Shane!)
