What does Samsungs new flagships bring?

It’s that time of the year again – when international manufacturers announce their latest and greatest smartphones in one of the biggest trade shows of the year. And just like last year, Korean juggernaut Samsung wants to jump ahead of everybody by announcing their next Galaxy, the S7 and S7 Edge one day early on Feb. 21. While the official unveil of the two new smartphones are days away, there’s already enough information out on the web via leaks that we have a pretty good idea of what the new phone will hold.


A small design tweak, but the changes are mostly inside

People who are expecting the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge to look drastically different from the previous generation flagships are in for a disappointement. All of the leaked renders and photos for the upcoming flagships point to Samsung refining the design of the previous flagships. There’s very subtle changes design-wise – the corners are a little rounder, the home button has been slightly enlarged but the biggest change is on the rear of the phones. Samsung has finally removed the camera bump on the back, and the camera module now sits flush on the rear.


Specs

According to our source, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is to come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Other specs include an IP68 (or IP67) rating, a 12 MP camera, a 2800 mAh battery, and microSD support.
One thing he also assures is that there will be no USB Type-C in the new handset, something we know plenty of you will be disappointed by.
Another important point to mention is that even though the camera will only have 12 MP, they will be larger pixels (similar to the Nexus 6P/5X cameras). And though this doesn’t tell us much about picture quality on its own, we must keep in mind Samsung has always been a leader in smartphone camera technology (at least for a while after a new flagship is released).

Facebook Messenger Updated To Version 5.0

Today Facebook is rolling out a new update to its Messenger app, bumping the version number from 4.0 all the way to 5.0. With such a jump forward you’d probably expect some pretty big changes here, and you’d be right.

While the overall look of the app stays the same in the latest update, don’t let this fool you, there’s plenty new. For one thing, it’s not easier to send video and photos within messages. Basically there’s a new row of icons at the bottom of the device screen that let’s you do things like insert a sticker, a voice message, upload photos and even lets you insert and directly watch videos from within Messenger. You can also now take a camera shot directly from within the app.

While some of this isn’t new, it’s all much easier to use than ever before. If you are a regular Facebook Messenger user, you’re going to find these changes to be welcome ones — though not exactly ground-breaking in nature. Is this enough to lure new users? Probably not.

LG to launch the G3, on May 27

It’s been a busy couple of months in the Android world, with flagship smartphone releases from most of the big names in the industry, but also from a couple of promisingnewcomers. The last to join the party will be LG’s G3, due for a public introduction on May 27.
LG just sent out invitations for simultaneous media events scheduled for May 27 in San Francisco, New York, and London. Three other events will take place the next day in Seoul, Singapore, and Istanbul, and, while the invitation itself doesn’t explicitly mentions the G3, the scale of the event leaves no doubt that we’re indeed going to see LG’s new hero device.
The G2 launched in August 2013, so LG is accelerating its release schedule this year, but that’s no surprise, as sources have indicated the G3 would land in May from back in January. The Korean company is likely trying to make the most of the spring season, which was dominated by Samsung and HTC in past years.
The LG G3 might be late to the party, but when it will eventually land, it will do so in style. Rumors mention a Quad HD display and a gold color option. Leaked product shots tell us that the G3 will sport LG’s signature rear-mounted power and volume buttons, and, if past iterations are a clue, we expect some very thin bezels on the front.

Now that the HTC One M8, Sony Xperia Z2 and Samsung Galaxy S5 have all been unveiled, the next major flagship to touch down will likely be the LG G3. Although we don’t know exactly when LG will take the wraps off the device, rumors and leaks related to the handset have certainly intensified as of late.
So far this month we’ve not only seen a UA profile giving us a first look at the handset’s specs, we’ve also seen a look at the device’s retail packaging and even had a peak at the G3’s alleged software redesign. Now we finally get our first glance at the back of the phone, which seems to confirm that the G3 will continue the LG G2’s tradition of placing buttons on the rear.
Although there are still buttons on the back, the layout has been slightly redesigned with a flatter look with aluminum accents. You’ll also notice that to the left of the camera is a black oval shape. While we aren’t completely sure what this could be, our best guess is some sort of sensor, perhaps a rear facing IR blaster?
Bottom-line, LG isn’t giving up on its rear-button arrangement anytime soon. This means we can expect ultra-thin bezels for the LG G3 in sacrifice of side buttons, perhaps in similar vein to the LG Isai. Of course, not everyone considers the addition of rear buttons to be a sacrifice, and many LG G2 owners have come to prefer it.

OnePlus One smartphone ( $299 ) Cyanogen

OnePlus, the startup founded by former Oppo VP Pete Lau, has unveiled its first smartphone, the OnePlus One. It's a powerful effort, with a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel f/2 camera unit, and bottom-facing stereo speakers designed with assistance from JBL. It runs a minimalist custom UI atop CyanogenMod, the modified version of Android breaking out as an operating system in its own right.

More interesting than the phone's components is the case that houses them — the One's white back cover finish is made of cashew, and you can swap this out for back plates using other materials including bamboo, wood, kevlar, and denim. Since the phone is constructed from magnesium, it weighs in at a relatively light 162g, and the 8.9mm-thick frame tapers to 4.6mm at the edges.
OnePlus will sell the One in the US, Canada, the UK, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and several European countries. It'll cost just $299 for an unlocked 16GB version, undercutting Google's Nexus 5 by $50, and you can quadruple the storage with a 64GB model at $349. There's a catch, though — you'll need to be "invited" to buy one at first. OnePlus says it will give out invitations through promotions on social media, and people who've managed to buy the phone will also be able to invite new purchasers.

Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff now available on Android

Have you ever played The Simpsons: Tapped Out? Imagine that concept, but with Family Guy in place of The Simpsons. If that interests you, the new Family Guy The Quest for Stuff game is a thing you should download and play.



The premise of the game is that Peter has once again gotten into a fight with the chicken. I'll leave it up to you to decide if that bit is still funny. At any rate, Quahog is destroyed in the process, and it's up to you to rebuild it. You'll go through town fixing stuff up and solving everyone's problems to earn money and experience.




The game contains animations and jokes developed by the Family Guy writers, as well as in-app purchases developed by heartless executives who want your money. Clams are the premium currency in Family Guy The Quest for Stuff, and you can buy bundles of them for $1.99-99.99. Hey, no one's twisting your arm.
