5 Best Android Icon Packs (2014)

Undeniably one of the best features of Android is the amount of customisation available to users. It allows users to customise all sorts of stuff such as the keyboard, the launcher and even apps.
Another point of customisation are the icons. Android allows users to easily apply replacement icons if they don’t like the default icons provided by app developers. It’s a great way to add a level of consistency across icons and a great way to add a bit of style.

Flatee

I don’t know if it’s the simplicity of Flatee, but it is the current icon pack holding down my home screen. The 800+ icons are round, flat (of course), and somehow modern, yet vibrant in colors and design. There is no long shadow, but you do get a subtle dimensional aspect to the bottom of each icon that gives it a bit of depth. There are 9 wallpapers included with the pack, a simple dashboard app for applying the icons, and support on Nova and Apex launchers.
Play Link ($1.49)

Peek

Peek may not have the 1,000+ icons that some of the others on here can lay claim to, but what a great start this little 100 icon pack is off to. The icons are about as simple as it gets, yet show a light transparency with imagery from each app in the background. You have to look close to see the detail, but once you do, I think you’ll appreciate it. Talk about a cool effect, right?
Since it only sits about 100 icons right now, you aren’t going to find every single icon you’ll need. My suggestion would be to give it a shot, and then just sit back and wait for the full thing to be released, assuming that happens. Oh, it’s also free.

Lumos

Lumos icon pack by +Kovdev features over 1500+ hand-crafted, squarish icons with curved corners. The icons have a flat matte look with a long shadow to the bottom right. Lumos icon pack also includes a cloud based wallpaper gallery, category based icon picker, custom docks, and a multi-featured dashboard application.

Play Link  ($1.99)

Vibe

If you were looking for an icon pack with dimension, some incredibly vibrant colors, and a squared-off frame, Vibe is all you. With over 1,350 icons, 10 of the best wallpapers I’ve seen in a while, and weekly updates from the developer, I’d say that this is an icon pack that could last you through a season or two.
Vibe works with all of the big launchers like Nova, Apex, Action, Next, Go, and more. It also comes with a handy dashboard app for quick applying or wallpaper downloading.
Play Link ($0.99)

Belle UI Icon Pack

Belle UI Icon Pack is well, really pretty! It’s super clean looking and bright, offering over 950 icons for all your favorite apps, plus it’s compatible with most launchers and is completely free. Though there isn’t a wallpaper included, the style of each Vector graphics-created icon goes well with the look of all of these launchers.
Compatible Launchers : Apex, Nova, ADW , Holo (Plus) , Action , GO...

Everything.Me Updates

Following a beta program with the pre-release version of its software, EverythingMe Launcher is now available for everyone in the U.S., U.K., Spain and Germany. Building on the recent trend of homescreen replacements that dynamically change based on a multitude of factors, EverythingMe Launcher aims to personalize your phone.

The new version of Everything.me wants to proactively show you information and apps you need when you need them. For example, you'll see your commonly used work apps when you arrive at the office, and before you head home for the night, you'll see the apps you use on the commute home, or the weather outside so you'll know whether to put your jacket on or carry it over your arm. The update also adds a "nearby" folder, which is surfaced when you're somewhere new that Everything.me doesn't know—and it'll pre-populate with information you'll need, like maps, nearby businesses, and so on.

EverythingMe Launcher is also offering universal search that covers your device, contacts, apps and the web all from one search box — type "news" for example and you'll be shown an RSS news reader app and then further links to places like CNN, The guardian or Forbes on the web.
This technology is certainly popular right now on mobile devices, and for good reason, many people are looking for a new way to have their phones do the hard work for them. EverythingMe as a company has gained some major recognition for this tech, and is even partnered with Mozilla for features on its Firefox .

5 best icon packs for android

1- Banx icon pack :

Banx is an inspired icon pack including 800 custom made squarish minimal HD icons mainly designed for XHDPI devices (supports other devices too but resolution varies). It also includes 12 matching wallpapers and dashboard app.

2- Mango Icon pack :

Mango is another icon pack featuring >300 rounded icons with Full HD (xxhdpi ) support. It also includes Icon mask which means even the non-themed icons will retain the style. ( I refer to this term several times while describing these icon packs )

3- Axis Icon pack :

Axis theme for Go/Apex/Nova and other launchers includes beautiful mix of 900+ minimal, flat and vintage styled HD icons supporting all resolutions, 6 matching HD wallpapers along with a theme dashboard.

Play Store Link – $1.49

4- Serkel Icon Pack :

Serkel icon pack features 800+ beautiful, minimal, and clean circular icons built for Nova, Apex, ADW, GO, SS, and Action launchers. It supports icon masking as well.

5 of the best Android launchers

1-Themer :

One more app that’s still in beta mode, Themer is another home screen launcher that takes the largely
premade theme route, rather than allowing you to spend endless amounts of time creating your own custom   widgets.
As with all the others, once downloaded, Themer appears any time you’d normally see your home screen
so when you unlock phone or hit the home button.

2-Aviate :

Aviate is one of the newer Android launchers on the scene  - in fact, it’s so new it’s still
in invite-only beta mode .
Rather than focusing on providing tools for creating icons, shortcuts and widgets in a
whole range of wacky shapes and colors, Aviate takes a smart, mature approach to the
custom Android home screen, with the key idea behind it being that it will provide
contextually relevant information, no matter what you’re doing.

3-Nova Launcher :

Nova Launcher is a bit more straightforward than some of the others here – providing       you with  a slightly tweaked version of a normal home screen – and tools to further fine-   tune it to your liking.
On first install it will ask you if you want to import a home screen from another custom launcher, or the stock Android setup.

4-Dodol Launcher :

The Dodol Android launcher is one of the simplest in this list, and it’s for that reason that it made the cut
Once installed, and much like some of the others, new themes can be easily applied that will quickly change the look of your home screen in just a few clicks. If you don’t like the default one shown below, there are plenty more that can be accessed and downloaded via the Dodol Theme store, they seem to be mostly free too.

5-Go Launcher Ex :

Android app launchers, also known as home screen replacements, are extremely popular.

Apps like Go Launcher EX can transform the way your handset looks and improve features and functionality. Choose from a large selection of themes, organize your apps into folders, resize widgets to any custom size, and hide private apps.

Get The Android 4.4 “Kit Kat” Look

Ever since we saw the massive leak of Android 4.4 “Kit Kat” which showed new UI elements, we have been awaiting the arrival of mock-ups of the icons and wallpaper from themers. This weekend, a couple of wallpapers and icon sets have emerged, helping us all take a step closer to the next version of Android a little ahead of Google’s schedule.
Thanks to ALESSIO94x from XDA, we have an all-in-one kit with included wallpaper and four icons (app drawer, phone, Google, and Google Settings) that should get you up and running in no time.  His wallpaper, at least to me, best resembles the one seen in the leak, since it has a red bar running across the top. You’ll find that kit pictured below in the first two screenshots. [Download]
If you want something that’s a variation of the wallpaper we saw, then you’ll want to take a look at the wallpaper in the screenshot on the far right, which was created by Kuci_06 over at reddit. The wallpaper is similar to what we saw in the leak, but doesn’t quite have that solid red bar across the top. I do like the shadowing and vibrant style of it, though. [Download]
And last, I went with an icon pack called Éternel instead of the mock-up icons because they seemed to fit nicely with the wallpaper.  The clock I’m using is a simple UCCW skin I created. You can grab the .uzip here.
For those new to the icons game, you’ll need a 3rd party launcher like Nova or Apex in order to apply custom icons.

Here is another version of the Nexus 5 wallpaper. [Download] (Cheers Shane!)

The Brown Agenda Home Screen

Aiming for some sort of Stone Age throwback, My Color Screen user TraktoR6666 created this agenda-styled interface for Android.

To get this look on your device, here's what you'll need:P

  • Alternate: Pink Agenda

  • The My Color Screen page has more detailed instructions on how to install the theme.
  • The UI keeps notes, calendar appointments,
    and other at-a-glance information front
and center while using virtual page tabs to
provide shortcuts to other apps on your
    phone.P
Do you have an awesome, tweaked-into-oblivion home or lock screen of your own that
you'd like to share? Post it in the comments below, or on your own Kinja blog with the
tag "home screen showcase" (no quotes). Be sure to include a description of how you
made it
so we can feature it as the next featured home screen.P
