Google’s play store is one of the biggest repository for apps for Android phones and tablets and comes with a lot of apps. But while downloading or installing apps, you might have encountered the error “RPC:S-5:AEC-0, Error retrieving information from the server”. If you are facing this error, you will not be able to download or install new apps or update existing ones. Here is a solution to this problem on Android phones and tablets.
There are two ways to fix the error.
Method 1:
- Go to System settings-> Accounts->Google and then remove your Gmail account from there.
- Now from settings->Apps->All, select Google Play Store, Google Service Framework etc and Force stop, Clear data and cache for these apps.
- Now again go to settings-> Accounts->Google->Add your Gmail account
- Accept all the Google terms and setup Google settings and now once again run the Google Play store, you will be able to install and update apps.
Method 2:
- Open System settings
- Go to Applications (or Apps) -> All
- From all apps select Google Play Store -> Clear Cache and Uninstall updates
- Now, All -> Google Services Framework -> Clear Cache and Data
- Now, rerun Google play store.
Method one has better chance of solving the issue, but needs more time as you need to delete your account and then create it again.
